Summary

The #1 New York Times bestselling author presents a gripping new thriller that pits homicide detective Eve Dallas against a conspiracy of exploitation and evil…

New York, 2061: The place called the Pleasure Academy is a living nightmare where abducted girls are trapped, trained for a life of abject service while their souls are slowly but surely destroyed。 Dorian, a thirteen-year-old runaway who’d been imprisoned there, might never have made it out if not for her fellow inmate Mina, who’d hatched the escape plan。 Mina was the more daring of the two—but they’d been equally desperate。

Unfortunately, they didn’t get away fast enough。 Now Dorian is injured, terrified, and wandering the streets of New York, and Mina lies dead near the waterfront while Lt。 Eve Dallas looks over the scene。

Mina’s expensive, elegant clothes and beauty products convince Dallas that she was being groomed, literally and figuratively, for sex trafficking—and that whoever is investing in this high-overhead operation expects windfall profits。 Her billionaire husband, Roarke, may be able to help, considering his ties to the city’s ultra-rich。 But Roarke is also worried about the effect this case is having on Dallas, as it brings a rage to the surface she can barely control。 No matter what, she must keep her head clear--because above all, she is desperate for justice and to take down those who prey on and torment the innocent。

It took me ages to get into this。 I had to give it two goes。 The heart-breaking stuff for the first 1-1。5 hours of the audio was just toooo heavy for my mood at the time。 However, once my mood changed, and I got into the main story, it was as wonderfully immersive as always。My only criticism was it was missing some of the signature light-heartedness but then it was a heavy theme。 Still a great Christmas listen though while I got a ton of meal prep done。Excellent narration as always from Susan Er It took me ages to get into this。 I had to give it two goes。 The heart-breaking stuff for the first 1-1。5 hours of the audio was just toooo heavy for my mood at the time。 However, once my mood changed, and I got into the main story, it was as wonderfully immersive as always。My only criticism was it was missing some of the signature light-heartedness but then it was a heavy theme。 Still a great Christmas listen though while I got a ton of meal prep done。Excellent narration as always from Susan Ericksen。 。。。more

Always a worthy ride with Eve Dallas。

This one shows how Dallas handles child trafficking。 I really like the ones where she is organizing everything, and how she builds from one clue to the big picture。 Good read。

I haven’t read much of this series, but I enjoyed this one。 Eve Dallas is an interesting character, and her backstory messes with this crime story perfectly。 If only everyone fighting human trafficking had the resources Eve and her billionaire husband bring to the mix。 The heroic victim in this tale is another well-drawn character。 A good read。

A roller coaster of a book - genuinely tense and unexpected。 One of the best in the series, despite dealing in sex trafficking of minors, which is not something I enjoy reading about。 But it absolutely worked and I couldn’t stop reading it。

Sooooo GoodSome reviews of Eve Dallas can't be put into words except to say, "read it today then pre-order the next 'In Death' title in the series。" Sooooo GoodSome reviews of Eve Dallas can't be put into words except to say, "read it today then pre-order the next 'In Death' title in the series。" 。。。more

Eve takes on a case that's going to be tough for her, child trafficking。 Roarke is concerned that it will be to much for her mental health。 However, they both discover Eve is stronger than they thought。 Love these books。 Eve takes on a case that's going to be tough for her, child trafficking。 Roarke is concerned that it will be to much for her mental health。 However, they both discover Eve is stronger than they thought。 Love these books。 。。。more

I think I might have to start admitting to myself, thought it’s strange… I have comfort, cops, especially considering how much I just like, and just trust cops。 But Eve and Roark always come through, and remind me that this is what cops should be like, even if they will never be this in my country。 To be fair to Roark of course, he’s not a cop, but he’s cop adjacent。 Is this love is great as my love for Olivia Benson? Another engrossing and well written book about Eve Dallas and Roark。 The characters get stronger and the stories get darker。 This one is about a former escort turned manager of an extensive network of child abusers。 An entire corporation to groom young girls and boys on how to please these adults。 It almost happened to Eve (read the first book in the series) so she has a personal interest in breaking the ring, freeing the children, and bringing the adults involved to justice。 It is another book Another engrossing and well written book about Eve Dallas and Roark。 The characters get stronger and the stories get darker。 This one is about a former escort turned manager of an extensive network of child abusers。 An entire corporation to groom young girls and boys on how to please these adults。 It almost happened to Eve (read the first book in the series) so she has a personal interest in breaking the ring, freeing the children, and bringing the adults involved to justice。 It is another book by Nora Roberts, aka JD Robb, and it is thorough。 At the end, you are almost as rung out as the cops who did the bust。 Amazing that Book 55 in the series can still be fresh and exciting。 Had to finish it even though it was past midnight。 。。。more

The subject of human trafficking, especially abduction of pre- and early teen girls to be trained and auctioned off as sex slaves, made this a bit hard to get into and sometimes emotionally tough to read, but it was suspenseful and well done, though less humorous than usual for books in this addictive series。

I can never get enough of J。D。 Robb。 This is one series that I have consistently read all of the books and I sometimes reread my favorite。 This is also the one series that I would say is not a romance but I still love it。 I would say that the first two books definitely skew a little more romance-forward but after that the focus is definitely on the murder-mystery aspects of the stories because the couple is well-established after that。This one was really exciting。 I loved the concept of the Plea I can never get enough of J。D。 Robb。 This is one series that I have consistently read all of the books and I sometimes reread my favorite。 This is also the one series that I would say is not a romance but I still love it。 I would say that the first two books definitely skew a little more romance-forward but after that the focus is definitely on the murder-mystery aspects of the stories because the couple is well-established after that。This one was really exciting。 I loved the concept of the Pleasure Academy and how nefarious they were as a force in the story。 I also really enjoyed that the women and girls who were kidnapped displayed such strong bonds and the way in which Eve was able to relate to them through her own experiences。 Honestly, any time Eve’s past comes up in these stories I love it even more。 I feel like it adds another layer of emotion and urgency to the story。Just excellent。 I would definitely read this book over again when I’m in the mood。 。。。more

A very classic Eve Dallas novel。 The story flow is impeccable and I think touches on areas in Dallas' life that we haven't seen in a while。 The storyline feels a little darker than what we've had in the last few years but made for a great story。 A very classic Eve Dallas novel。 The story flow is impeccable and I think touches on areas in Dallas' life that we haven't seen in a while。 The storyline feels a little darker than what we've had in the last few years but made for a great story。 。。。more

It has been some many whiles since I last read an Eve Dallas book。 Got this one as a gift。 Kept my attention, as the tension built and the case gathered steam。 Not a happy case to be sure, but well-solved in the end (is that a spoiler?)。Boy, do I wish someone would invent an AutoChef already。 Fun to see an imaginary depiction of 2060 NYC and not at all suprized to read that traffic is still a daily mess。

I really don't know how there can be 55 books in this seris and it's still good。 I mean, is it world shattering new stuff that revolutionizes the genre? absolutely not。 It follows a very known formular, but still, there is suspence in every book so far (at least for me) and the interactions are nice and the secondary characters are interesting, so is Eve, as a really kickass FMC and the storyline is actually decent。。。 really impressive for a 55th book。 I really don't know how there can be 55 books in this seris and it's still good。 I mean, is it world shattering new stuff that revolutionizes the genre? absolutely not。 It follows a very known formular, but still, there is suspence in every book so far (at least for me) and the interactions are nice and the secondary characters are interesting, so is Eve, as a really kickass FMC and the storyline is actually decent。。。 really impressive for a 55th book。 。。。more

When any book in the series pops up I always start reading it as soon as I can because I know I'll enjoy it。 That's true of this one I probably put off reading some other books because I knew I'd love this。 That said it was kind of sad as it is about trafficking and that could trigger people。If you've read any of these you know that the main character of Dallas is someone who had been abused herself and there's always the issue of whether or not she is triggered by cases like this so they deal w When any book in the series pops up I always start reading it as soon as I can because I know I'll enjoy it。 That's true of this one I probably put off reading some other books because I knew I'd love this。 That said it was kind of sad as it is about trafficking and that could trigger people。If you've read any of these you know that the main character of Dallas is someone who had been abused herself and there's always the issue of whether or not she is triggered by cases like this so they deal with the fact that it could be triggering for some people by dealing with the fact that it could be triggering。 That said there were still some parts that were unpleasant to read but sort of necessary to get to how it ended。 。。。more
